Dennis "Denny" Von Wilfong, 82, of Clinton Township, Michigan, passed away peacefully on June 24, 2026. Born on April 29, 1944 in Willow Branch, Indiana, he was the son of the late George Smith and Florence (Trees) Wilfong. Denny was a proud member of the Charlottesville High School class of 1962 and was honorably discharged as he served in the Indiana National Guard.
Denny was a man of simple pleasures and great passions. He loved nothing more than watching his favorite sports, whether it was basketball, football, NASCAR, Indy 500, or committed to his passion for watching "The Price is Right". A true lover of the outdoors, he enjoyed fishing, fair food, and the thrill of tractor pulls. Fireworks displays every summer were a must, and in winter, you could find him soaking in the beauty of Christmas lights while sipping hot chocolate. There was little Denny loved more than a good car ride for a milkshake or a tenderloin!
Denny had an amazing talent for storytelling, with a memory so sharp that he could recall the tiniest details of every tale. Known for his athleticism, he even held records in pole vaulting during his school days. He attended Hancock Junior College in Santa Maria, California on a basketball scholarship. But his true joy came from spending quality time with family and friends, making them laugh and creating lasting memories.
He is survived by his brother, Jay Wilfong and his children, Luke (Rachel) Wilfong, Ashley (Jeremey) Merrill, Jessica Wilfong, and Tiffani Wilfong; sister-in-law, Barbara Hughes Wilfong, and her children Brett (Candy) Wilfong, Grant (Tracy) Wilfong, Jennifer (Michele) Wilfong, along with 17 great-nieces and nephews and 10 great-great-nieces and nephews. Denny also leaves behind an extended family who became a significant part of his life over the last 46 years: Teresa and Tony Horning, Darlene Moore, Steve (Kathy) Horning, Jeff Horning, Krystyna (Eric) Blair, Kara (Sanel) Cehic, and Kimberlyn (Amel) Kljajic, plus his beloved fur friend, Thor. He is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Lynn George Wilfong and Kay Donovan Wilfong, and extended family member Roberta Turner Horning.
