Denise K. McCormick, 57, of Indianapolis, passed away peacefully and went home to be with her Lord and Savior on July 29, 2026. Born on July 22, 1969, Denise was a lifelong resident of Indianapolis, born to Allen Peel and Sheryl (Morris) Bailey.
Denise proudly served as an EMT with the Wayne Township Fire Department, where she dedicated herself to helping others in their times of greatest need. Her compassion, skills, and unwavering commitment touched countless lives. She will be remembered for her caring heart and the difference she made in this community. Denise also earned an Associates Degree in Human Services at IVY Tech where she remained on the Dean's List for her academic accomplishments. She also liked shopping on Temu and watching True Crime shows with her daughter Kaitlyn.
In her later years, Denise found a loving community at Bethany Village, where she built strong bonds with her caretakers and fellow residents. Her kind nature made her a source of joy for everyone around her.
Denise was a loving daughter, mother, sister, grandmother and friend. She is survived by her mom, Sheryl Bailey; two children, Justin Henson and Kaitlyn McCormick; two sisters, Laura Deien (Jeff Deien) and Sarah Peel; one brother, Gary Peel (Marivel,), three step-sisters Tanya Revell, Tabitha Scales, and Trina Martinez; and three grandchildren, Justin Henson, II, Sandra Gibson, and Megan Gibson.
She is preceded in death by her father, Allen Peel and step-father Loran Bailey; daughter, Jessica Henson; grandson, Charles Gibson II, and one niece, Callie Nicholson
Visitation for family and friends will take place on Sunday, August 16, 2026 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Diversity Church, 2415 East 72nd Street, Indianapolis, Indiana 46240.
A funeral service will follow visitation starting at 4:00 PM at the church with Pastor Andrew Wodrich officiating. Cremation will conclude services at Bozell Funeral Homes & Crematory.
