David H. Nelson Sr.

David H. Nelson Sr., 67, of Lapel, passed away on Sunday, August 13, 2023, at Riverview Hospital in Noblesville following an extended illness.

He was born on January 15, 1956, in Ceres, California to William and Emmilene Nelson.

He was a graduate of Ceres High School. He retired from Gaylor after 27 years as an electrician.

He loved to fish, tend his garden and listen to country music. He enjoyed watching Colts football and Nascar races. He enjoyed feeding the squirrels and birds. He loved to help others.

David is survived by his wife, Traci (Murphy) Nelson; two sons, David H. Jr. (wife, Ginger) Nelson and Ira Nelson both of Anderson; siblings, Sonny, Theresia, Beverly, Wilma, Jessie and Georgie; brother-in-law, Eric Murphy; twelve grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren special friends, Rusty, Scott, Chuck and Dave; and a very special buddy, Little Mac.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Ricky; and a sister, Wanda.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, August 19, 2023, at Hersberger-Bozell Funeral Home, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel, Indiana 46051 with Rev. Gary Klinger officiating. Cremation will follow.

Visitation will be from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Saturday, at the funeral home.
