Darrel Duane Davis

Darrel Duane Davis, 86, passed away peacefully on Thursday September 10, 2026, in Charlotte, North Carolina. Darrel was born on September 6, 1940 to Harold and Alice (Pettit) Davis in Shelby County, Indiana and was a graduating member of the Waldron High School Class of 1959.

He proudly served his country as veteran of the United States Marine Corps, and joined the Greenfield Police Department in 1967 as a communications officer. He retired from the Department as Chief of Police in 1993 after a long and distinguished career, having completed several technical training courses at the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy and earning numerous commendations and awards. Darrel relocated to Ruskin, Florida where he joined the Port Manatee security team as security officer before again retiring as the Port's Captain of Security after more than ten years of dedicated service.

In his spare time, Darrel enjoyed traveling the country and eventually visited all 50 states. His community involvement included the Fraternal Order of Police (Hancock County Lodge #140); Indiana Freemasons (Hancock Lodge No. 101), American Legion Greenfield Post 119; and the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks (South Hillsborough Lodge 2672 Elks, Ruskin)

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Anne Davis; sister, Martha West; brother, Carl Davis; and brother, Alvin Davis. He is survived by sister Kay Petry; sister, Ruth (husband, Jerry) May; his children, Jeffrey (wife, Pamela) Davis; Gary Kiser; Mic Kiser; and Cyndi (husband, Steve) Snider; 13 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and 6 great-great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will take place at 11 A.M. Monday, September 21, 2026 at McCray Cemetery in Wilkinson, Indiana.
