Cheyanna Closser

Cheyanna Closser, known for her fierce spirit and unwavering positivity, passed away on July 29, 2026, at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. Born on September 24, 1996, in Garden City, Michigan, to Robert and Cindy Patrick, Cheyanna's journey was nothing short of remarkable.

Cheyanna grew up wherever the pickup truck took us. She attended South Madison Community School and later graduated from Penn Foster High School. Her thirst for knowledge led her to the University of Florida for her undergraduate studies, followed by a law degree from the University of Kentucky. 

But Cheyanna was more than just a lawyer, she was a cowgirl at heart. An avid barrel racer, she made a name for herself in the rodeo world, winning the All-American Youth Race in 2010 and competing in the International Finals Pro Rodeo last year, where she was proud to be ranked 7th in the IPRA. She also took to the tracks as a jockey at Indiana Grand, where she was recognized as the leading apprentice rider in 2015 and raced at Hoosier Park as well.

After law school, Cheyanna worked at Hensley Law for a year and then opened her own practice in Pendleton, focusing on family estate law. But even with her legal career, she always made being a cowgirl her priority.

Cheyanna and her husband, Gabriel Closser, had a love story that began in the 8th grade, blossoming over the years before they finally tied the knot. She was the kind of friend who never let anyone give up, always encouraging and spreading positivity wherever she went.

Cheyanna is survived by her husband, Gabe Closser; Parents, Robert "Gary" Patrick and Cindy Lou (Ridley) Patrick; Mother and Father-in-law, Mindy and Jason Closser; Siblings, Robert John (Jenea) Patrick and Amy Happenny; Sister-in-law, Chloe (Hunter) Barger; Aunts, Darla (Tim) Snyder and Tamra (Kirt) Clark; Nieces and Nephews, Colton and Aislynn Patrick and Winsley Barger, Grandmother and Grandfather-in-law, Joyce "Nana" Closser, and Sandi and Greg Fisher. 

She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Eleanerbelle Swank, Robert Patrick, and Joyce and Charlie Ridley.

Visitation for family and friends will take place on Monday. August 3, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at ITOWN Church, Madison Campus, 6607 Providence Drive, Anderson, Indiana 46013.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 4, 2026 starting at 10:00 AM at the church. Burial will conclude service at Grovelawn Cemetery in Pendleton.
