Charlene (Evans) Gladney, 88, of Lapel, Indiana passed away peacefully at her home after a long illness on Saturday, August 29, 2026. Charlene is a native from Middlesboro, Kentucky and has lived in Indiana for over 65 years. She married the love of her life, Paul Gladney, Sr., and the two were married for 60 years before his passing in 2021. Charlene dedicated 26 years of her life at Brockway Glass.
A true believer in the Lord, Charlene dedicated a large portion of her life to worshiping Him. Her father, Charles Evans, was a Baptist preacher at Yellow Hill Baptist Church in Kentucky and that is where her love for the Lord began. She found her spiritual home at Bethel Baptist Church and had been a faithful member for many years.
Most importantly, Charlene loved her family and enjoyed spending time with her friends and family.
Left to cherish her memories are her children, Robah "Roby" Marshall (wife, Linda) Bain, III of Lawrenceburg, TN, Michael Steven (wife, Jodi) Bain of Anderson, IN, Paula Kay (husband, Tony) Smart of Lapel, Timothy Lee (Julie) Gladney of Anderson, Debra Sue (husband, Jeff) Albea of Lapel; her step-children, Paul Gladney, Jr., Phyllis Gladney, and John Gladney, all of Lapel; her cherished 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Pauline (Lee) Evans; her husband, Paul Gladney, Sr.; and her grandson, Austin Albea.
A gathering of family and friends will take place on Wednesday, September 2, 2026 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Bozell Funeral Homes and Crematory, Lapel Chapel, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel, Indiana 46051. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM at the funeral home. Pastor Ned Clark and her son, Robah "Roby" Bain will be officiating. She will be laid to rest in Brookside Cemetery.
