Carolyn ‘Jane’ Warfel, 80, of Pendleton, Indiana, formerly of Indianapolis, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on August 7, 2025 at Community Heart and Vascular Hospital in Indianapolis. Jane was born on January 29, 1945, to William and Betty Frick in Harlingen, Texas. She graduated as a salutatorian from Lapel High School in 1962 and went on to earn her BS in Education and MBA both at Ball State University. She retired from EDS Group, Rolls-Royce as a finance manager.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Jane had a vibrant spirit that lit up the lives of everyone around her. She cherished her winters in Florida, turning her home into a cozy sanctuary adorned with flip flop décor that perfectly matched her sunny personality. A true book lover, she found joy in getting lost in stories out in her lanai while enjoying the Florida weather.
She was truly an amazing person and loved big. It didn’t matter if you were her brother, sister, child, niece, nephew, married into the family or were just a friend, you knew you were loved. Jane devoted herself to her family becoming not only a steady presence but their biggest supporter and proudest fan. Whether in the bleachers at sporting events or at home watching the live sports apps, she was always cheering. She praised her children and grandchildren for how proud she was of all their accomplishments, whether big or small.
Jane is survived by her four children, daughter Wendy (husband, Mike) Hunter of Pendleton, sons Wade (Shiva Taghdiri) Warfel of Indianapolis, Nathan (wife, Tiffany) Warfel of Pendleton, and Matthew (wife, Tamara) Warfel of Newburgh, Indiana; grandchildren Morgan (husband, Blaize) Kelly, Jarrod (fiancé Maddy), and Taylor Hubble, Mariah (fiancé Jordan) and Maylie Hunter; Libby, Jake, and Abby Warfel; Whitney, Kaycie, Aubree, and Ellie Warfel; Jaden and Jaxon Warfel; and her prized great granddaughter, Nova Kelly. She is also survived by her sister, Sally (Bob) Groves, brother, William Frick Jr., and sister Patty (Danny) Johnson, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Betty Frick, and former husband, Dr. Larry Warfel.
