It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Bonnie Mae Frist, who left us on May 26, 2026, at the age of 82. Born on June 14, 1943, in Anderson, Indiana, Bonnie was a beloved figure to all who knew her. She was the daughter of Russell and Anna Marie (Lawson) Johnson.
Bonnie was an accomplished woman, earning her Master's Degree and dedicating many years to teaching at Greenfield Community Schools. She had a passion for education and made a difference in the lives of her students. Bonnie was also an member of the Chesterfield Christian Church, finding joy and community in her faith.
Outside of her professional life, Bonnie loved to travel and greatly enjoyed attending concerts with her son, Rob, and her grandson, Blake. These outings provided her with meaningful opportunities to spend quality time with her family. Bonnie valued the experience and cherished these beautiful memories. She also took great pleasure in lingering for hours amongst different antique shops.
She is survived by her son, Robert Frist, her daughter Kimberly (Mike) Alexander, and a whole crew of beloved grandchildren: Alicia (Scott), Blake, Cassondra, Doug (Paxton), Evan (Isaac), Jacob, Wyatt, and Ashley. Bonnie was also a proud great-grandmother to Kadence, Brinley, Anna, Raelynn, Meela, Michael, Ana, Levi, Adelyn, Gideon, Luna, Ophelia, and Zion.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, James and Larry Johnson.
Bonnie wished to express her greatest gratitude to her best friends, Jane Morphew and Barbara Stalker for their loving care and support during her illness.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Brookside Cemetery in Lapel, Indiana. Family and friends are invited as we celebrate Bonnie's life and reflect on wonderful memories.
