Betty Jean Newkirk, a beloved member of the Anderson community, passed away on June 17, 2026, at Beaumont Health and Living. 

She was born on November 24, 1937, in Seymour, Indiana, to Chester and Dorothy Newkirk. Betty dedicated many years of her life to the healthcare field, working as a nurses aide and in housekeeping. Her compassion and care for others shone through in her work and her everyday life. A faithful member of the Anderson First Church of The Nazarene, Betty found joy and community in her faith and loved connecting with her church family.

In her spare time, she enjoyed sewing, knitting, and diving into a good book. Betty's creativity and warmth touched everyone around her.

She is survived by her brother, Robert Newkirk and a special nephew, Richard Hildreth, along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

Betty is preceded in death by her parents; Brother, Junior Newkirk; Sister, Mary Ann Hildreth; Brother-in-law, Harold Hildreth; and Sister-in-law, Genene Oliver.

A graveside service will take place on Wednesday, July 1, 2026 at 10 a.m. with Rev. Dan Cole Officiating, at East Maplewood Cemetery, 200 College Drive, Anderson, Indiana 46012.

Bozell Funeral Homes & Crematory, Brown-Butz-Diedring Chapel has been entrusted to the arrangements for Betty.
